Caring for Boem

Boem products are special.
They are all hand made, and dyed by hand too, so they need to be cared for in a different way to mass produced, machine made items. They are hardy though, and aren't precious, so they will wear well and last if you pay attention to the care details on each product.

It is important to note that hand dying fades fast when left in the sun or filtered sunlight, please always remember this. Don't leave your garments on the line in the sun to dry, lay them flat in the shade or inside on a clothes airer away from a window or light. Don't leave your cushions and throws sitting in a spot that has lots of filtered light or direct sunlight- you will fade them.
However, at Boem, we quietly celebrate this quality, when our products fade they can look vintage and time worn. We love it- but you may not, so please adhere strictly to the no sunlight directions.

Always wash your linen in the machine on a cool, gentle cycle, or cold wash by hand- with a gentle detergent. We prefer chemical free- but that just our ethos! Don't spot dry it, wash it separately, remember it is hand dyed, the colour will run a little.
Linen is also subject to shrink about 5% after each wash, so when it is dry, use a good steam iron and it will grow back to its original size and shape.

The colours will appear stone washed after washing they will fade a little over time and gain some nice wrinkles and creases, this is a quality we celebrate and it is a deliberate characteristic of all Boem products.

Boem is deliberately imperfect. It is designed to be raw, textured, stubby, blotchy, irregular and edgy. This is why we love it so much.
So let's celebrate these qualities together, look after our Boem item- and continue to be the change we need to see in this urban jungle!
